Our Story
{ve-ro} adj.
true, authentic, genuine
{mo-der-no} adj.
modern, contemporary
Over the past decade we have looked on as the North West and Greater Manchester has become crowded with Italian style restaurants, serving very typical dishes such as Bolognese, Carbonara and lasagne. There's nothing wrong with these classics, we love them too. But we wanted to offer a completely new approach to Italian dining, in a modern way, and true to our roots.
At Vero Moderno, we aim to deliver fresh, incredible food in warm & friendly surroundings at our Chapel Street restaurant in Salford. Since opening our doors in 2016, we have been proud to play our part in the area's growth into a fantastic neighbourhood, welcoming lovers of great food from Manchester and beyond.
We are happy to be described as 'one of the top three modern Italian restaurants in the UK' by the Sunday Times, and to feature in the Waitrose Good Food Guide!
We look forward to welcoming you.

Where it started
The Vero Moderno story starts in the bustling city of Rome, birthplace of owner Giuseppe Piccoli - affectionately known to friends and guests as Beppe!
With a lifelong passion for fantastic food and service derived from his experience of Rome's incredible eateries as a child, Beppe has worked in the restaurant & bar industry since the age of seventeen - and upon arrival to the UK gained extensive experience in the industry, opening and managing sites for various companies successfully across Manchester.
It's this lifelong experience, and the memories of the fresh produce on offer around Rome's food markets, that led Beppe to take the jump and open his very own restaurant based on the principles of fantastic service, fresh ingredients, and authentic Italian food - with a contemporary twist.
Chapel Street
Earmarked for a multi-million pound redevelopment project by our friends at Muse Developments, the Chapel Street area of Salford had laid derelict and neglected for a number of years.
Steeped in a rich local history of Marxism, ground-breaking physicians and L.S Lowry, the area's regeneration was an opportunity that couldn't be missed by Beppe, who was living in the area at the time.
Being the first commercial business to open here was no doubt a huge risk that required determination, vision, and belief that the area would in time flourish as a bustling new Salford neighbourhood on the border of the Irwell and Manchester city centre.
That belief paid off - and after a slow and uncertain start, Vero Moderno has gone from strength to strength, attracting increasing curiosity for the concept as the neighbourhood grew to the bustling food and independent business district it is today!
The concept
The concept is simple, and true to the restaurant's name; Vero Moderno means 'true and modern'.
Using the freshest ingredients available to us, the kitchen work as a team to produce exceptional dishes that are based on ideas and influences from regional Italy - taking classic local dishes and giving them a contemporary twist.
The key is in the detail; from interesting veloutés, reductions and sauces that compliment popular and lesser-known pasta varieties, to fresh fish and steak. Our homemade ravioli changes every month, as do our special starter and main course dishes. There's always something new to try!
Exceptional service is at the core of what we do. You will always be welcomed with warmth, and our knowledgeable staff are ever keen to advise on dishes and potential wine pairings.
Pizza Romana
Our pizzeria proudly produces Roman-style pizza, with a thin but firm base for the fresh toppings and our in-house homemade tomato sauce.
Our dough is proven for a total of 72 hours, which gives it a fantastic elasticity and easily digestible finish. Cooked to perfection in our high-temperature pizza oven to give it that final crisp, we believe our Roman-style pizza offers a unique pizza experience not found elsewhere locally.
We have a sizable selection of pizzas available, including vegan and vegetarian options, and also a 'pizza blanca' section of white pizzas without tomato sauce.
Events
At Vero Moderno we love to keep things moving, keep things interesting and exciting.
We put on regular events, the main one being our popular 'Taste of Italy' events where we focus on the particular food and wine of Italy's various regions, with a five course meal and paired wines.
Hosted personally by Beppe giving a little background to each course, these are always really fun nights!
We recently put on a vegan night which we also plan to do more of, focusing on the possibilities of vegan Italian cuisine.
